Schneider Electric BMEP582040H Modicon M580 Hardened Processor Module

BMEP582040H is a hardened Modicon M580 standalone processor module. It runs the control application and manages local I/O and Ethernet remote I/O; its standalone configuration is distinct from the M580 Hot Standby controller architecture.

BMEP582040H supports up to 2048 discrete and 512 analog local I/O points, with up to 72 application-specific channels. The achievable configuration also depends on I/O density and available backplane slots.

BMEP582040H has one Ethernet service port and two device-network Ethernet ports. The hardware guide identifies this controller as supporting RIO scanning, with the device-network ports connecting it to the Ethernet RIO ring.

BMEP582040H provides 8 MB of integrated program RAM and 768 kB of integrated data RAM. Schneider Electric also lists 10 kB of system memory and expandable flash storage of 4 GB for data storage.

BMEP582040H is the industrially hardened version documented by Schneider Electric. Its published operating-temperature range is -25 to +70 °C, and its IP20 protection rating applies to the processor module.

BMEP582040H supports up to eight Ethernet RIO drops, with a maximum of two backplanes per drop, plus up to four local backplanes. These are controller configuration limits rather than a count of modules supplied with the processor.

BMEP582040H receives its internal power through the rack; Schneider Electric lists current consumption of 270 mA at 24 V DC. A USB mini-B connection is provided, alongside the embedded service and device-network Ethernet ports.
