The UCSB controller does not host any application I/O, in contrast to conventional controllers where it is on a backplane. Each controller is also connected to all I/O networks, providing them with access to all input data.No single point of application input will be lost if a controller is powered down for maintenance or repair thanks to the hardware and software architecture.
